The Alternate Routes are the band that reminded the world, “we are how we treat each other, and nothing more.” Their moving anthem “Nothing More” propelled them into new ears and new heights, being featured during the 2014 Winter Olympics, on NCIS, and by countless organizations around the globe. They followed it with “Somewhere in America,” a searing reflection on gun violence that earned them a 2016 Independent Music Award and even brought them to the White House,

.Since first breaking through in 2005 with their album Good and Reckless and True, The Alternate Routes have toured relentlessly, recorded multiple albums on Vanguard Records and independently, and honed a sound that’s equal parts poignant and powerful. Along the way, they’ve collaborated with artists as varied as Patty Griffin, filmmaker Lisa Cholodenko (The Kids Are All Right), and Carl Broemel of My Morning Jacket, while also making appearances on Late Night with Conan O’Brien, The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, and NPR’s Mountain Stage

Now, frontmen Tim and Eric bring a special stripped-down duo performance of The Alternate Routes to The Barn on Thursday, January 15, 2026. Expect an intimate evening of heartfelt songwriting, soaring harmonies, and the kind of connection that has made The Alternate Routes one of the most enduring and meaningful bands in modern American folk-rock.
