There She Is is a multidisciplinary work exploring selfhood through film, movement, music, and conversation.

Presented by Brown But BLACK, this experience invites you into a season of creative becoming. Emerging from the lived experience of KingEmpress (Empress) — writer, dancer, and co-founder of Brown But BLACK — the work traces a period in which her writer's block interrupted language, but never imagination.

Situated within the tension of listening to one's inner voice while navigating inherited ideas of womanhood, There She Is explores the relationship between sensuality and agency — what becomes possible when Black women stop being experienced as sites of consumption, and start being understood as homes of wisdom and autonomy. More than a performance, it is a meditation on what it means to cultivate a more intimate relationship with oneself, on one's own terms.

The performance closes not with an ending, but an opening: stay for A Conversation of Elevation LIVE, a guided community dialogue facilitated by Brown But BLACK co-founder Kaydee Garlo.
