Former Rolling Stone music editor Dave Marsh once said of Antje Duvekot: “This is a brilliant, brilliant album. I have had this reaction once in the last 10 years and that was the first time I heard Patty Griffin.” That kind of praise has followed Duvekot throughout her career, and with good reason.
Widely recognized as one of Boston’s finest singer-songwriters, Duvekot burst onto the scene with her debut Big Dream Boulevard—produced by Seamus Egan of SOLAS—which earned international acclaim, the Boston Globe’s “#1 Folk Release of 2006,” and a spot on NPR Folk Alley’s “Top 10 Releases of the Year.” Her follow-ups, The Near Demise of the Highwire Dancer and New Siberia, produced by Richard Shindell, featured contributions from folk icons like John Gorka, Lucy Kaplansky, and Mark Erelli. With a voice both tender and fearless, she crafts songs that turn darkness into resilience and solitude into connection, earning her the Boston Globe’s praise as “hotter, faster than any local songwriter in recent memory.”
A decorated artist, Duvekot has won the Grand Prize in the John Lennon Songwriting Competition, Kerrville Folk Festival’s “Best New Folk Award,” and a Boston Music Award for “Outstanding Folk Act.” She’s graced stages at The Newport Folk Festival, Mountain Stage, Kerrville, Philadelphia, Celtic Connections (Scotland), and Tønder Festival (Denmark). Her songs have been heard everywhere from Bank of America’s national Super Bowl ad campaign to TEDMED, where CNN reported her moving performance about her grandmother’s descent into Alzheimer’s left the audience in tears.
Neil Dorfsman, Grammy-winning producer for Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen, summed it up best: “She creates an entire, detailed world in verse, and takes you there with beautiful and understated melody. Her songs are stunning paintings of color and shade.”
Experience the brilliance for yourself when Antje Duvekot takes the stage at The Barn on Saturday, February 7, 2026—an intimate night with one of the most compelling voices in modern folk.
