Power-punk-emo-pop trio Ultimate Fakebook returns with The Preserving Machine (SonicRitual), its first new album in16years. A collection of tightly wound, disarmingly accomplished songs about shared dreams, national disappointment, friendship, devotion, love and Manhattan KS, the band’s exuberant, you-only-live-once spirit explodes in songs including “After Hours at Melin’s,” “Sad Soldier” and “We're Sharing the Same Dream Tonight.”“... a combination of sweat and divinity. One listen will hook you. By the third listen, you’ll beconsumed.”
–AllMusic, 2020 Best Rock Albums
Frogpond "TimeThief," Frogpond's first new album in 20 years, brims with momentous pop anthems, striking dynamics and riff-heavy stomps that draw on the band’s visceral grunge and power-pop aesthetics. Heidi Phillips’ engrossing vocal melodies are at the core of these songs, delivering truths with an unvarnished poignancy. It characterizes the sound that made the group a ‘90s alt-rock fan favorite, and declares that the music speak for itself.
The addition of Kristin Conkright on rhythm guitar and Michelle Bacon on drums restores Frogpond to an all-woman lineup, evoking its original spirit of vitality and camaraderie. With this configuration and an endlessly playable record, ‘TimeThief’ marks much more than a reunion, but a bold, lived-in proclamation of self-expression and independence. "TimeThief" is available at Frogpond's Bandcamp page or on CD, and [fingers crossed that] after a very long wait, vinyl records will be available at this show!
Ashtray Babyhead from Little Rock, AR opens the show.
At the request of the artist, proof of vaccination is required for entry or a negative Covid test within 72 hours of the show.
