Atlanta’s rising star bassist Francisco Lora makes his Churchill Grounds debut!

Lora has quickly established himself as a young pillar of the Atlanta jazz scene. This is due to his conscious choice to seek out mentorship from the elders, such as master pianist John Robertson, the Harper family, Kermit Walker, Bernard Linnette, Terry Smith, Sandy Blair, the amazing Rosemary Rainey, Dub Hudson, Neal Starkey, and Ronald Hampton.

Lora's group just finished a summer residency at the Goat Farm Arts Center, leaving an indelliible mark on their programming. By curating the Saturday jazz nights all Summer, Lora helped bridge a gap between a major arts institution and Atlanta's thriving fellowship of jazz musicians.

Accompanying him on the 23rd is his first mentor, legendary drummer Kermit Walker, who has performed with such luminaries as dizzy Gillespie, Nancy Wilson, Ray brown, Johnny O’Neal, and Clark Terry.

On piano is Omar Askew, who is currently studying under Dr Tyrone Jackson at KSU.
