THIS IS A 6PM SHOW
Cosy Sheridan has been called one of our era’s finest and most thoughtful songwriters. For the past three decades, her music has regularly topped the folk radio charts as she has performed at coffeehouses, festivals, and concerts in every corner of the US.
As The Chicago Examiner notes in writing about Sheridan:
“You can’t…continue touring for twenty or so years,
unless you know what you’re doing, and do it well.”
The Albuquerque Journal, meanwhile, dubbed Sheridan
“a buddhist monk in a 12 step program trapped in the body
of a singer-songwriter.”
She plays a percussive, bluesy guitar, often in open tunings and occasionally with two or more capos on the neck.
“Frank, feisty, sublimely and devilishly funny”
as described by Cornell Folksong Society.
Sheridan first appeared on the national folk scene in 1992 when she won the songwriting contests at both Kerrville Folk Festival and Telluride Bluegrass Festival, followed by the release of her critically acclaimed CD, “Quietly Led.”
These days she teaches workshops in songwriting, guitar,
and performance all over the country,
and is also the founder and director of
Moab Folk Camp in Moab, Utah.
“A wonderfully lively, very funny, and enormously amiable entertainer with a keen and wicked eye for the excesses of our fast-food,
tv-happy and noisome culture.”
– Boston Globe
“Cosy writes intelligent and clever lyrics with stickable melodies.
– Sing Out Magazine
Heidi Rovig is a professionally trained and accomplished opera singer venturing into the world of folk music. She studies with Cosy. We believe this collaboration featuring Cosy and debuting Heidi’s recent songwriting ventures will be a funand entertaining way
to spend an evening.
