Angel Corsi is a BIPOC folk/soul artist and former pugilist fighting for his people.

The Colorado-based songwriter's style takes the listeners through contemplative vignettes of humans that have to navigate a range of topics such as, "belonging", "childhood trauma", "forgiving yourself", "systemic and politically charged oppression" and "finding true love" in all of it's forms. Angel channels his fighting spirit in each performance. Offering to break his heart & soul apart in listening rooms and storyteller house concerts across the United States, UK, and Canada.

Angel's authenticity is immediately felt through tales of his complicated past and cultural clash of life experiences with hard people and soft souls. He brings his empathy and intensity to every performance and whether he is screaming and wailing with his electric guitar that has earned him the moniker of a "Chicano Bruce Springsteen" or bringing the emotional depth and closeness of a weathered but determined troubadour with his acoustic that nods to contemporary Americana artists like Jason Isbell or Hiss The Golden Messenger. Angel's biting and colorful lyric writing and straightforward musical approach proudly carries the torch for traditional folk, 60s soul, 70s heartland rock and even 90's hiphop. That's what happens when you grow up listening to Ice Cube, Bob Dylan, Sam Cooke, Guiseppe Di Stefano and Los Lobos.

Ingrid Avison is a Colorado based singer-songwriter who believes in music as a superpower and writes songs that leave a lasting impression. A superb vocalist with a subtle tremble in her voice that is pure and grounded while also delivering a full throated wail almost effortlessly, her songs blend catchy melodies, insightful and provocative lyrics and biting social commentary.

Am I sick or is it society?/Toss me in with the masses I’m anti-climactic/I check all the boxes least that’s what the doc says/I fit right in to an American dynasty.

It’s telling that Ingrid’s debut recording is a sophisticated mélange of Americana and at times otherworldly cinematic soundscapes that give breath to her compelling stories of desert sojourns, lost love, death and time traveling into other dimensions.

Come with me where the land is red/Sink into the canyons/When the winds are strong and the rage sets in/That’s where I’ll be wailing.

Ingrid is no stranger to heartache and she gives voice to those feelings. In a recent interview Ingrid shares, “Having my dad suddenly die when I was a kid has shaped so much of who I am, and it’s not possible for me to leave it out of my songwriting. It’s like saying you’re gonna build a car without an engine. You’re gonna get nowhere fast…so whether it’s a break up song or a dead dad song, grief is going to show up. But on the flip side, the only way that I survived that experience as a kid was to eventually laugh at the absurdity of life and reclaim my joy as a griever and as a woman finding her place in the world. Those elements are like the wheels of my car.”

Ingrid’s creative journey coalesced quickly as she has made room in her life for her new found passion. Living in a quiet cabin home in the mountains with her dog, Olive, and cultivating a steadfast dedication to the songwriting muse has been essential. After writing her first songs in 2022, she then began working with her neighbor, Steve Szymanski, a co-founder of Planet Bluegrass, who says it felt meant to be. “I actually first met Ingrid walking her dog down our road and invited her over to my studio to record some of her new songs.” A musical bond quickly ensued. “Ingrid was new to it all, so we approached the project with a beginner's mind. Rules were broken, tears, laughter and learning abounded and together we were able to manifest a collection of songs that rang true to Ingrid’s artistic vision.”

Now I’m ready to step into the expanse/Holding steady through the borderlands/My body is a portal to the past/My ancestors are time traveling/Everything lasts forever/This I understand.

Ingrid’s song, “Time Traveling Cowboy”, became a catalyst for the entire project, as it was the first song to be recorded and the last to be finished after some twists and turns trying to capture the right feel and sonics. The song is a personal favorite, delving into a kind of hero’s journey and speaking to the essence of personal transformation and the paradox of existence.

As a solo artist, Ingrid has performed at several venues along the front range of Colorado. In the spring of 2023, she formed the Ingrid Avison Band and their debut performance drew nearly 100 people to the historic Trident Bookstore in Boulder. She’s returning there with her band in October 2023.
