The album, How Sweetly I Sleep Here Alone, features classical guitar, free improvisations, and folk interpretations. Come out to hear pieces from the album performed live at Steve's for the second of two nights of shows to celebrate the release! There may even be some Bach performed on the classical guitar. Doors 6:30, show starts at 7 pm.
- James Barrs is a guitarist and composer based in Paonia, CO. He studied the classical guitar at Northwestern University and jazz with Frank Rumoro. James is interested in the ways that sound interacts with space and enjoys recording and performing music in unconventional places. Recently, he collaborated with Camille Backman and Nicholas Miller, recording Everything Ends in Darkness (2024), underground in a cave in Colorado. His latest project, How Sweetly I Sleep Here Alone was recorded in a day at Rangely's Tank Center for Sonic Arts. When he is not playing the guitar, pickup soccer, or backpacking, James works as an audio producer for KVNF and Aspen Public Radio.
- Camille Backman is a Belgian-American musician and improviser. Her favorite performances in recent years include King Phillipe of Belgium's 60th birthday celebration, Projekt Borba in Bulgaria, Bruxelles Jazz Fest, and most recently at Mountain Fair as part of the Audubon society's 'For The Birds: Birdsong Project'. She thrives in opportunities to perform in unconventional settings and appreciates the ways in which music heals and creates transitory community.
