Rockford, IL-based Miles Nielsen has spent nearly a decade enthralling audiences with music that draws force from the prime years of Western-influenced rock music and classic ‘60s soul. Claiming influences as diverse as Otis Redding’s classic soul and Jellyfish’s cult power pop recordings.
Led by free-wheeling frontman Miles Nielsen, The Rusted Hearts have been wowing audiences for years with the diversity of their sound, the tightness of their 4-part harmonies, and the quality of their songcraft. Equally comfortable in a compact 3-minute pop song and an epic 10-minute jam, the band has toured incessantly since their inception in 2011, amassing an army of hardcore followers that have dubbed themselves the Rusted Herd. Their new album “OHBAHOY” finds the band venturing into a sphere of Americana that feels both familiar and excitingly new. Tight drums, rich guitar tones, gorgeous woodwinds, and sweeping harmonies provide the perfect complements to Nielsen’s immense storytelling gifts and impeccable vocals. The album’s name comes from an imaginary friend Nielsen had growing up, a fitting reminder as we get older to hold tightly to the noble ideals of freedom and creativity that seem so natural to us as children.

MARQUES MORELMarques Morel is an American songwriter/folksinger, guitar-strummer/harmonica wailer, Street-performer/wandering troubadour, itinerant woodcutter/migrant worker, and a friend to all. Originally from the Illinois corn country, Marques has performed everywhere from big city street corners around the world, to county fairs and festivals, to taverns and theaters, sharing the stage with artists such as Charlie Parr, Arlo McKinley, The Hooten Hallers, and Dead Horses, to name a few. Known for his intense and infectious energy on stage and his gritty and honest songwriting and delivery, Marques Morel has been described by his fans as “raw and rustic,” “guts on the floor,” and “wild and happy and dark and sad.” He will be found performing either as a one man show accompanied only by his old guitar, harmonica on the rack, and makeshift kick drum, or with his dynamically spirited band, The Midnight Wind.
