THEM COULEE BOYS
“A rollicking blend of bluegrass, folk, and rock and roll”
- Folk Alley

Soren Staff and Beau Janke—co-founders of folk/rock/Americana outfit Them Coulee
Boys—met as camp counselors in northern Wisconsin in 2011. Their weekend workshopping of
Avett Brothers and classic country tunes led to original songs and adding Soren’s brother Jens on mandolin, Neil Krause on electric bass and Stas Hable on drums.

The band’s name is a nod to the glacial melt-carved river valleys they call home, known by early
French fur trappers as coulees. Known for wild swings of emotion during sets, it is not
unusual to see fans in tears and minutes later dancing with abandon. The honesty and ability to
talk and sing about the feelings and emotions that shape them has endeared them to a growing
group of fans and friends.

Over the course of  five albums, the band has garnered international attention and earned press in Americana UK, American Songwriter, Ditty TV, Folk Alley, and The Bluegrass Situation. The band has played support to Trampled by Turtles, Los Lobos, Old Crow Medicine Show and Band of Heathens and No Depression writes of the recent release, “a remarkably wide-ranging, enduringly sympathetic examination of the human condition.”

2025 marks the release of  No Fun In The Chrysalis, an expansive new collection that finds the band picking up where their 2021 release, Namesake, left off. Goldmine writes "TCB present their material with the presence of War on Drugs and Band of Horses (“Mountains”), but with an intimacy at times of Rick Danko’s best work with The Band ('I Am Not Sad').”

The band’s co-founder, Soren Staff, wrote about his ongoing struggles with self-worth and anxiety on “I Am Not Sad,” the first single from the album – “it was a tonic, 4 minutes of musical therapy hearing this for the first time,” claimed Americana UK. The band worked again with Grammy-winning producer Brian Joseph (Bon Iver, Sufjan Stevens, Humbird), whose production on Namesake shepherded the band beyond their folk-grass, Americana roots to “go electric.” No Fun In The Chrysalis was recorded at The Hive  in the band’s hometown of Eau Claire. The Bluegrass Situation calls it,  "Rambunctious, playful, and wonderfully inspired, the recording is submerged in the mystery of transformation; the relentless blitz of change the most dominant theme of the songs.”

MOLLY BRANDT

Named Americana Artist of the Year at the 2023 and 2024 Midwest Country Music Awards—and nominated in many other categories—Molly Brandt is one of the most distinctive voices in the independent Twin Cities music scene. Since releasing her first singles in 2022, she's performed in venues across the Midwest and beyond and at festivals including Blue Ox, Big Turn, Rochester Thaw, Boogiedown, and Boats & Bluegrass. Her song “Mr. Texas” appeared on Netflix's hit series The Hunting Wives.

Whether playing as a duo or trio or with her full 7-piece band, Brandt puts on an unforgettable show. On stage, she commands attention with her signature fashion; powerful, expressive vocals; and down-to-earth, funny and fearless personality.

Her three studio albums trace a bold stylistic arc: from the honky-tonk, countrypolitan and alt-rock of Surrender to the Night (2023) through the sprawling story-filled landscape of her genre-fluid sophomore effort American Saga (2024), to her forthcoming Museum of Being (June 12, 2026). It’s her most ambitious and experimental work yet, with new sonic landscapes that include synth-heavy psychedelic sounds and electronic beats while keeping her country roots firmly in place with elements like soaring pedal steel. Brandt’s work has been praised by the Star Tribune, Racket MN, The Current, The Bluegrass Standard and Adventures in Americana.

SIMON CROPP

Simon Cropp is a flatpick guitarist, multi-instrumentalist, and folk songwriter. His performance is equal parts dive bar bravado and fireside introspection. Simon’s songwriting  is plainspoken storytelling, channeling classic country themes of love, heartbreak, and the landscapes he travels through, presenting these stories both as a solo act and with the rotating cast of collaborators he calls his “All-Star Band.” Simon logs thousands of miles as a touring multi-instrumentalist, equally comfortable on pedal steel guitar, electric guitar, and bass. With a vintage archtop guitar in hand, Simon’s unique style blends country-inspired crosspicking with melodic sensibility to produce a sound that is as comfortable on a front porch as it is on a festival stage.

"A road-tested troubadour, Simon's gentle voice pulls you down the road through landscapes both foreign and familiar, pointing out the heartaches and joys along the way."
