HIT-MAKING SINGER-SONGWRITERS KICK OFF COWGIRLS AT THE COWBOY
Nation’s Only All-Female Country Festival Returns for Third Year

JACKSON, Wy – Cowgirls at The Cowboy, the nation’s only all-female country music weekend, returns to Jackson Hole and the stage of the iconic Million Dollar Cowboy Bar on October 3rd, 4th and 5th for the third consecutive year. Nashville-based artist and Jackson Hole favorite, Jenny Tolman is once again curating the event designed to celebrate strong women in music. This year will feature five of the top established and emerging female singers and songwriters in recent country music history, continuing the tradition begun in the previous two years. Thursday night’s Songwriter Showcase will feature Jenny Tolman anchoring a night of unforgettable songs, and the stories behind them. Jenny will welcome two very special guests: Tenille Townes and Lori McKenna.

For Tenille Townes, writing songs is a way of reaching out to anyone longing to make sense of a wildly confusing world. In the last five years alone, the Canada-born artist’s full-hearted and soul-searching songwriting has led to such milestones as touring with legends as varied as Stevie Nicks, Miranda Lambert and Shania Twain, taking home two JUNO Awards, 17 Canadian Country Music Association Awards and two Academy Of Country Music Awards, and scoring two #1 records, “Jersey on the Wall” and “Somebody’s Daughter.” Following her Jackson Hole debut, Townes will embark on a 19-city headlining Canadian Tour.

From her home base in Boston, Lori McKenna has carved out an enviable niche for herself as one of Nashville's most in-demand songwriters, all while maintaining a prolific and remarkably consistent career as a solo artist. In addition to her career as a solo artist, McKenna continues to enjoy success as one of the music industry’s most in-demand songwriters. In 2023, she was nominated for a Grammy for Best Country Song for co-writing “I Bet You Think About Me (Taylor’s Version) (From the Vault),” performed by Taylor Swift. In 2017, McKenna became the first woman to win the Academy of Country Music’s Songwriter of the Year award and the first woman to win the Country Music Association’s Song of the Year award two years in a row. She also won back-to-back Grammys for Best Country Song: for “Girl Crush,” performed by Little Big Town, in 2016 and “Humble and Kind,” performed by Tim McGraw, in 2017. In 2021, McKenna won her third Best Country Song Grammy for co-writing “Crowded Table,” performed by the Highwomen, with Brandi Carlile and, Cowgirls’ alum, Natalie Hemby. In addition to writing songs for a multitude of award-winning artists—including Faith Hill, Miranda Lambert, Little Big Town, Reba McEntire, Tim McGraw and Carrie Underwood—McKenna also co-wrote “Always Remember Us This Way,” which was performed by Lady Gaga in the Oscar-winning 2018 film “A Star Is Born.”
