Pump Action

Pump Action is a band rooted in friendship, brotherhood, and Miami Hurricanes Football.

Jack, Spencer, Poppy, and Trent met in 2019 as Freshman at University of Miami’s Frost school of Music; there they became friends, then bandmates, then roommates, and after a move to Nashville they became van-mates, bringing their energetic fusion of Funk, Indie-Rock, and RnB to venues and dive bars across the United States. 

Some say their music is a cross of Red Hot Chili Peppers and Stevie Wonder. Others say a combination of Santana and Justin Timberlake. But classification is never something Pump Action is interested in. They thrive on being a melting pot of commercial and virtuosic, side-stepping the confines of genre for the core belief that good music is good music. Each song is a surprise, and they like it that way. 

Pump Action released their debut EP, Coronation, in 2022, and has steadily been growing since the success of their 2023 single, “Maybe It’s You” (infamously known across social media as the “Shroom Riff”). They were on ESPN’s TikTok for their drummer’s rendition of “Apache” with a Roland Sample Pad and a floor-lamp. They have opened for bands such as Bermuda Search Party, Harvey Street, and Winyah. They were a finalist for NPR’s 2025 Tiny Desk Contest. Darius Rucker commented on their Instagram Reel one time. And so on. Pretty cool stuff.
