Inducted into the Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame in 2015, Atlanta-based pianist, composer, and educator Gary Motley has been a leading force in southeastern jazz since launching his solo career in 1994. A virtuoso praised by the National Endowment for the Arts and the Great American Jazz Piano Competition, Motley has performed worldwide alongside legends like Dave Brubeck and Kenny Barron, featured on NPR’s Piano Jazz, and arranged music for diverse clients ranging from Cynthia Erivo to TED Countdown's global climate initiative. As a Professor of Practice and the founding Director of Jazz Studies at Emory University, he remains deeply committed to advancing music education while continuing to record and arrange, including his album project Spectrum.
